Sounds like you have put more thought into it than Skoda

Skoda has been one of the few manufacturers to defy the downturn in new vehicle sales in 2011. After the first eight months of the year, Skoda Australia has delivered 1418 vehicles, 41.5 per cent ahead of the same time in 2010.
Octavia sales are up 13.2 per cent (783 vs 692), Octavia Scout even more at 140.3 per cent (185 vs 77), while the Superb is the only car in the sub-$70,000 large car segment to improve compared with 2010 (450 vs 20.
With prices for the Fabia 77TSI Hatchback to start at $18,990 before on-road costs, the Volkswagen Polo-sized Fabia is set to become the volume seller for the Czech brand in Australia in 2012.
Anyone with even base industry knowledge would know the second half of the year is slower than the first. 1480 units to August puts then on track to do about the sane as last year considering end if last year brought Superb Wagon, 1.4tsi, 1.8tsi and RS option add ons and all with price restructuring.

I can't see Fabia in a manual only variant (statistically removing 70% of your potential audience immediately) will be their volume seller at $22k on road. Not with the Swift coming in a GL for about $5k less than this.

I can't see how your comments stack up?!

Don't worry, very soon Skoda Aus will realize how unrealistically high the price is, so they'll drop the price by a few thousands or add more equipment. By then it probably will be the volume seller.

But before the price drop and DSG, I don't see how they can sell the Fabia.

I do not think that Fabia and Swift are the cars of the same size. The comparison is not valid IMHO. Fabia should be compared with SX4 size-wise.

    Great September results for Skoda

Best month ever!! Leapfrogged Peugeot, Volvo and Renault, awesome. It is probably only temporary high point due to release of new models but trajectory is right on the target there. I do not think that they go over 3000 vehicles sold this year, but they may not be far off it.

That's great. I guess the 2.8% finance has got a lot of interest as well! I don't think Fabia or Yeti would have contribute much to the sales though, as they are way too expensive at the moment. Maybe a couple per dealer having it registered as demo, but that should be less than 50 in total.

Which prove only one thing. Skoda really makes good cars! Despite VW's conspiracy to kill it here in Aus, I think consumers are smart! I mean, where else are you gonna get a car with Euro handling with German technology, traditional Aussie big 6's size, Japanese reliability and price? Smart people buy Skoda!

I think it's more that the Yeti hasn't been officially launched yet and not many of either have hit dealers yet. Skoda themselves expect the Yeti to become their number one seller, not the Fabia.
