    1.8l non turbo fuel efficiency

Hey just wondering if there are any other members out there with the 1998/99 GLE with the agd engine?
What sort of fuel efficiency is expected from this engine? I have had a look on Redbook and drive and the both give widely different values and the owners manual in the car does not have that engine which is strange

Currently I am getting around 12L/100km. This is with mostlly urban driving not usually trips less than 20-30k's though. I am noticing that my engine does take 20mins to heat up to 90º even in summer which i thought was a bit weird.

    Thanks

Could be that the coolant temp sender has an issue, or it really is cold and the thermostat is stuck open, making it run rich for a long time.

I would suspect temp sender but you say it does actually reach 90 on the gauge... However, even if the thermostat was stuck open, I would think that if you were driving the car it would reach operating temp sooner than that anyway.

Get someone to scan it with VCDS would be a good step.

Also, chances are the 02 sensor is no good if its been running like this for a while.

@ Lito damn i would love 8l/100km... so since the are based on the same engine.. with mine minus the turbo etc, if i don't have to bad a lead foot i may get close to that?

@gldgti & Lito That makes sense... sorry not really coming from a car background but want to start to learn some of it. So the car is trying to burn more fuel to get up to temperature constantly because of the valve of the thermostat or sensors are malfunctioning. Is that roughly what would be going on?

    Thanks again
