Im looking at getting a tandem trailer for work, any idea of what I might be up for for the supply and fitting of such a rig?
It’s for wood heater deliveries, a single axle may be ok but tandem appealed because we sometimes move 400kg+ appliances.
Currently been using a Ute with Tail lift but it’s leaving with an ex employee.

The bar is around $800 then there's another couple of hundred for the electronics and then there's the fitting. I was quoted around $1300 all up.
As for a trailer... don't forget ramps and an electric hoist!
Check the ball mounting height if you're planning to use a tandem. On a van, it's usually pretty low because otherwise it fouls the door. You then need to check your tandems hitch height, as they are often too high for the low mounted ball, meaning it may have to be forced down onto the ball (this doesn't happen with a single axle trailer). Insufficient or negative down force on the hitch is very dangerous, as I found one time with a big hired tandem of furniture, moving house. After 500Km the tow ball bolt was only hanging on by a couple of threads. I reckon it would have lasted about another 20Km. If you're getting a new tandem, make sure it's hitch height is made to suit the van set-up.
If you load trailer correctly you wont have no ball weight and even a tandem usually has its wheels set back a bit to give some ball weight.
If with furniture you loaded all the heavy stuff on the back you would get it loaded off and cause that But that isnt the trailers fault and you could have loaded to prevent that.
If with a new trailer the hitch is too high its a reasonably easy fix to get it mounted UNDER the A frame chassis and so lift the trailer flatter
Doesnt fix user error with poor load distribution though

Loading is critical otherwise its a case of the tail wagging the dog , seen a few examples of incorrect loading with the tow car down an embankment with the trailer wrapped around the car !!
Yes but some blame the gear when they have no idea of how to do it. I had a trailer that empty had about 10lb ballweight but with a front heavy load it could be enormous.. Had a big car transporter with no brakes connected and loaded with a couple of tonne of rocks nearly push me over a bank on a corner. Was my fault going too fast LOL
