    Multivan Options (Seeking Opinion)

    Hi All,

Looking at getting a 103KW Multivan for the family but am undecided whether to take up the following options.

    1) Multi Function Steering Wheel incl 9ZU & 9Q5> Code > ZE7
-> I intend to have an integrated unit like AVIC installed a few months down the road and am unsure if the multi function steering wheel will be compatible with such new systems. Is the RNS510 worth the 3K VW is asking for?

    2) Multi-Function Table
-> Welcome feedbacks from existing owners whether its useful or a total waste of space.

    3) Sports Suspension with uprated stabiliser
-> Finds the OEM suspension too hard for me liking as it is. Welcome feedbacks from existing owners with this package.

Options on the definite list are:

    1) Sunroof Code > 3JB
    2) Power Sliding Doors > PT4
    3) Power Tailgate Latch >GY1
    4) Front Foglights with Turning Light > 8WH
    5) Light & Sight & Coming Home Function & rain sensor wipers > Z4A
    6) Dark Tinted Windows > QL5
    7) Folding Side Mirrors > 6XP

    Thanks in Advance,
    Mike

It would be great if the approximate cost of each option was listed.

    1. MF steering wheel - Check that there is an adapter harness available to integrate with the wheel. I'd call Pioneer/Kenwood/Alpine first.
    2. I had the table that stows in the sliding door. I imagine you refer to the table module that slots into the floor rails? How often would you eat/write/work in the van? It is only a storage box with a lid after all...
    3. No idea but I'd reckon sport suspension would lower the van and firm things up even more?

I personally would not go with powered doors/boot. I mean do you find difficulty closing doors now? Added cost and complexity for little gain. The same for rain sensing wipers - it isn't hard to use the stalk...

Options 1,4,6, and 7 (especially if you live in the inner city) - YES.

    My 2c, MM

Not too sure about the value of a number of things on your definate list. They will only add to the cost of the car, add very little additional enjoyment and be worth nothing come resale time .....

An RNS510 can be had outside the VW chain for less than $1200 and is a much better bet than the AVIC or any other aftermarket Nav system. Best of it all the RNS510 fully integrates with the car's systems.....

On your list I'd order ....

    1) Multi Function Steering Wheel incl 9ZU & 9Q5> Code > ZE7
    2) Multi-Function Table ... its only $350 to order and $1500 to retrofit later ..... and the kids will love it ....

    4) Front Foglights with Turning Light > 8WH
    5) Light & Sight & Coming Home Function & rain sensor wipers > Z4A
    6) Dark Tinted Windows > QL5

I ordered our van with the folowing ......

    1) Multi Function Steering Wheel
    2) Premium factory fitted Bluetooth
    3) Multi-Function Table
    4) Front Foglights with Turning Light
    5) Light & Sight & Coming Home Function & rain sensor wipers
    6) Tinted windows including front doors
    7) Metallic Paint .... Olympic Blue
    8. Roof mounted DVD player

I have a RNS510 ready and waiting to be fitted .... currently "testing" it in the Tiguan, liking it so much will probably get another $1200 RNS510 for the Van .... or "Sharkie Bus" as its getting known as .....

Turns a $50K RRP van into a $63K RRP van ... with no additional resale value in 5 yrs time ....

How about the rough road suspension, if you finding the ride too hard.

I would also thing about second battery, just in case there would be a need for the fridge for a longer journeys. Definitely wouldn't get el. sliding doors, unless you must have it.

Rough Road suspension? Is there such an option?

Has anyone tried the Sport Suspension option who can comment on how it compares to the standard suspension?

I think the Beach is equipped with Rough Road (long travel) suspension. I know my Beach is definitely "higher" than a standard Transporter.

huh? Are you saying VW charge $1500 for the table unless you purchase it with the van?

Ours just collects dust in the garage. was a nice novelty for a bit, but in the end we preferred having a walkthrough space between the seats instead of the table

    2) Premium factory fitted Bluetooth.

Sharkie: Mind sending me a message where i can get a RNS510 for 1200? Does the Premium factory fitted Bluetooth work with both Iphone 3 & 4?

    Thanks all for the feedbacks.

Decided the list will be as follow:
    1) Multi Function Steering Wheel incl 9ZU & 9Q5> Code > ZE7
    2) Sunroof Code > 3JB
    3) Power Sliding Doors > PT4
=> Must have as the doors are much too heavy for the 7yo.

    4) Power Tailgate Latch >GY1
    5) Front Foglights with Turning Light > 8WH
    6) Light & Sight & Coming Home Function & rain sensor wipers > Z4A
    7) Dark Tinted Windows > QL5
    Folding Side Mirrors > 6XP
=> Need to check this is electric folding.

    9) Premium factory fitted Bluetooth
=> If it does not cost too much

    10) RNS510
=> If Sharkie can advise where to get it for 1200.

    11) Pearl Black colour.
