Right you lot, chill pills allround. Golfwise you are wise and mostly correct. However, at least Al is a precision engineer and so has done his research with regards to coilovers and planned, well engineered wheels. At least he is not advocating cut springs and wheel spacers. I have seen his Mk2 and this Mk1 and it will be a useable showcar by the end.

Personally I like the 90s euro look with plastic bumpers and 5 spoke mags, but some of the best and most agile golfs I have owned have had 13" wheels, they handle great and accelerate quickly. I can however appreciate the oldskool glory of projects like the dubstars, as they look retro, as Mk1s obviously are, but look more slick and polished too.

After all if owning a golf meant owning a stock 1976 LS there would not be many left. Sinse the beginning the stock golf has been modified and tuned. Thats not gonna change. Just appreciate the blood sweat and tears as well as the carefull planning and engineering that goes into a project. Even if the result is not the way you would have done it, thats ok. We drive golfs to be different, not the same.

Let there be no division and dissent here. This forum is a great place to be, lets keep it that way.

Now shake hands, or It`ll be handbags at dawn.

You guys... I think your moderator (Golf Loon) has been very lenient in not deleting some of your posts. Please always remember that we are a public forum. Don't give outsiders any reason not to get involved in a fine enterprise...This community. Otherwise, the recently-banned zjm might just have good reason to see some of us as "Tossers".

In general, I don't look at every post...That's why we have moderators, but I may have to and then wield the red pen when necessary.

Hey guys Dubstar and I are just fine.Just a bit of friendly banter.
Don't worry I'd have dubstar in the trenches with me anytime.
We are both in batting right now 'he's up one end and I'm down the other .
