Very sweet work indeed man Mark and Jordan! You guys need to come to the west and give me motivation haha. What was the point of rebuilding the whole gearbox? Better ratios or? Surely you could have found another 5 speed g'box and mount? I have a 5 speed sitting in the backyard haha

Just for piece of mind. My 4sp was like a chocolates milkshake, only crunchy.. so just wanted to avoid that. I always intended on doing the diff bolt swap so might as well freshen up the box while I'm at it. I could've bought a mount, but where's the fun in that MK1 Ragtop

Before they touched the dizzy did they take measurements with the car running?

Nope. What should they have measured?

The mechanical advance automatically advances the timing as the engine gets faster. To get the best out of the dizzy the advance should match what's needed by the engine. That's why getting the weights correct is important. Too heavy and it advances too much too early, not heavy enough and you can lose a couple of hp.

It will never be as good as an ECU which takes measurements 1000 times a second but a well set up mechanical dizzy is the next best thing.

He did quiz me on the specs of the motor and seemed like he's done a few. He did have a spreadsheet of the idea factory advancement but other than that, no clue.
