Very impressive at the drags.
Rumors of a faster engine....
UPDATE!!
Well, it's been a good run, but I have some very bad news for everyone.. the mk1 is dead... Almost as dead as the mk1 section or vww lately hahaha.
On a side note, the ragtop is most definitely not dead yet, but more so alive than ever!
I have done the most responsible thing by removing the 32/36 and finally biting the bullet and going dhla45!
This poor carb was in a rather **** condition when I got my hands on it and took a bit of coin to get it all happy days.
What can I say, the intake noise is quite lovely now )
I'll let the pics do the talking

Looks good man, noise would be epic. Big improvement over 32/36 would you say?
Also lol at vww being dead, it certainly feels that way doesn't it as of late!? I guess its easier to post in FB groups these days ..

FB is easier but you don't see the gradual progress of a car. Everything is now, now, now.
How good are your brakes without a booster?

Personally, very big improvement. The 32/36 is faaaaaantastic, but my biggest issues with it was the lack of induction sound, but more so the transition from primary to secondary. It would hiccup and if you went from cruise to WOT.. or even as your powering out of a corner, it would hiccup once you went from 50% throttle to WOT. The dhla on the other hand has robbed me of a little bottom end power in return for a great pickup of rpm and a perfect scream on WOT. It's very not fine tuned yet but it seems promising

We need to bring vww back to life fellas! It's on our shoulders..
As for the brakes. They can be pretty scary at first given the extra pedal effort but once you ease up to them you can stop on a penny and the pedal feel/feedback is extraordinary. You can feel what the tyre/road/traction relationship really well. They've been dialed in to about 55%front/45%rear so they tend to almost lock up simultaneously.. almost
