Angry Transmission Leak - out of warranty

    Hi Guys,

I was driving home on Wed and noticed a spanner alternating with the gear indicator on the MFD on my 2012 GTI DSG. When I got home, I noticed some sort of oil leak on the driveway. Next morning, I opened the hood to see a puddle of green liquid on the right hand side of the engine bay which I assumed was transmission fluid. Had the car towed to the nearest dealer and they are still in the process of assessing the problem. They called on friday afternoon and siad that they need to see if the whole transmission has to be replaced or just the mechatronix.

Any idea how much that would cost? I fear that it would cost more than the car itself. If I get a dsg from a wrecker, would a 77tsi dsg fit the gti? I fould a few on gumtree.

Still waiting on an update from the dealer....

The 77TSI box probably fits but more than likely has the wrong gearing for a GTI. Where exactly is the green fluid? Photo? Why take it to VW out of warranty? There's loads of specialists in Sydney.

Its its been to VW for servicing and its just out of warranty, they may offer a good will repair, so stick with VW for now until you get an answer back. If they won't cover it, then look at specialists as a cheaper option.

They just called and said that it is the mechatronix that needs to be replaced. I asked them to see if we can get any goodwill from VW. If not, I've already contacted a specialist

I asked the dealer about this when I took mine in as this was my understanding, he said he hasn't heard of this and assured me it was 3 years.

Warranties < Technology & Service < Volkswagen Australia

I sent this to VW australia. Let's wait for their reply

Been told by the dealer I use, general manager, head tech and service dept receptionist. I believe it is due to the problems they have had with oil usage etc.

Had mine replaced just out of warranty , always serviced by VW so they just charged for labour $450 from memory.
