Tire pressure for 17" Sports Pack wheels

Hey everyone I have just purchased some 17" boavista alloys that come with the sports pack (for the 77tsi) and wanted to know if the tyre pressures are the same for both the 17" boavistas and the stock 15" rims.

I was just wondering if you have a 77tsi with the sports pack, could you please post a picture of the tyre pressure place card on the fuel cap.

It would be much appreciated, thanks.

Normally the bigger the wheel, the higher the tyre pressure. It would only be a difference of a couple of PSI; until someone posts a pic of their tyre placard I would recommend somewhere around 36-38 PSI.

Think 39-40 is for GTI 17" although I think tyres are slightly wider. I'd say 38 would be a good setting depending on load.

Boavistas and is inside the fuel cap (Should be) is 38 PSI

Thx guys for the replies but unfortunately i need to know all the measurements for the tyres. The min and max for both front and rear tyres. Posting a photo is probably easier than writing it all into a table.

Sorry buddy I have a GTi so can't get a photo... there is a TSI Polo with Sports Pack at my work I could take a photo of his stock wheels but thats about it.

The only issue I have is that the 17s are an "extra load" tyre (215/40 R17 87V XL) and not a "standard load" tyre (215/40 R17 83V)

XL tyres are designed to achieve their increased load capacity through higher inflation pressures, so at a glance, 2.2 front / 2.0 rear for the 17s looks suspiciously low to me.

However, I don't think they need to be as high as the 1.4 GTI (2.7 front / 2.5 rear) since the 1.2 TSI isn't as heavy.

So I would try 2.4 front / 2.2 rear, or 2.5 front / 2.3 rear.

It's to my understanding that XL tyres "can" have higher tyre pressure to carry more weight because they are reinforced (which is good for Aussie potholes). They do not require more pressure for normal use though. Where they come in usefull is space savers where they can be thinner to save room, but at the same have more pressure to carry the required weight. And the letter is just a speed rating. I have some Michelin Pilot 87W XL for these rims just wasn't sure if the pressures would be the same from my 15" to the 17" but it is the same, which is good.
