Coming up to two years ownership

Had our MT12.5 GTI for almost two years now, have loved it apart from the excessive oil usage.

I have been calling around for quotes on the two year service. Dealers are quoting almost $700, European Autotech quoted $370.

A few quick questions as I've been out of the loop for a while:

    1. Is European Autotech still highly recommended around here as an independent servicer?

    2. Is the goAPR stage 1 tune still the tune of choice?

    3. Would you recommend a tune even if we don't feel like we need extra power for everyday driving - instead does it have other benefits for the car? (eg reduce oil consumption)

    thanks!

An APR tune could give extra drive ability as well as more power. Although if you really don't need more power I'd suggest their DSG tune. Check it out on their website, I'm considering it for my Golf. I don't know if this will help the oil consumption issue.

I serviced my Polo GTI at Platinum Car Service in Botany, they were fantastic and do a better service than VW, at around half the price! (VW are thieves). Give them a call and check them out.

By getting a DSG tune ONLY you are depleting the capabilities of this engine/gearbox combination. Yes you will get some benefit from it but never it's full potential and considering the relative high cost of a DSG tune, for some it may be seen as a waste of hard earned $$ by not utilising it with an ECU remap.
