    NO KEY warning

A while back I snapped my key, specifically the big cast part directly under the pivot button. I bought a replacement key fob and grafted the cast part into the old housing (all internals as per original which was working). With it all put back together, I can unlock/lock the car, start the car, but it shuts down giving me a "NO KEY" error message. Any thoughts on what the issue is.

Seems like an immobiliser issue to me, but the whole circuit board is there and all seems to be OK.

The keys probably transmit the secuirty codes through the metal of the key itself, there's probably no electrical connection there. You'll need to get a new key cut so it's one piece. I THINK, might be wrong but i doubt they communicate wirelessly unless you have a proximity based key.

    Hi Mitch,
I don't think that's the case because when I first snapped the key o started the care with the key in the ignition and turned it with s pair of pliers with the fob close by to get the immobilizer chip in range.

    Any other ideas folks?
