removing car battery in 05 polo

Hey all, I got a used polo a few weeks back, went on holiday and came back to a flat battery

I want to try charging it up before buying a new one but step one is removing the old one from the car!

When did it get to the stage where you need a full on workshop manual to remove a car battery...

Anyway, I checked the manual, useless (take to dealer to replace)

I've gotten the cover off and disconnected the terminals but the battery is stuck fast. It does not budge. I know there's probably a bolt somewhere but where? I can see half a bolt under the battery casing but i'd need to take the front grille off to get to it!! That cannot be the right one.

I've been quoted 380 for someone to come out and replace it so i do not want to go down that path just yet.

    Cheers

Any tips or PICs anywhere? I googled and searched this site but didn't find anything

what a battle... missing the corolla already

theres a secondary plastic front cover thing on the battery enclosure!! 2 clips. once that comes off the entire bolt is visible.

Unfortunately im a yuppie in a carlton north terrace house, so no garage. And that means minimal tools... But i managed to undo the bolt using a combination of adjustable wrench to grip the bolt from the top, then using pliers to twist the wrench and undo the bolt!

    phew
