    K & N 9N Panel Filter?

I stumbled across this K & N panel filter, part number 33-2920. According to K & N it is meant to be the panel filter for the 1.4L and 1.6L 9N Polo's. Is there any confirmation on whether or not this is a legitimate panel filter to suit the 1.6L? From what I can judge of the enlarged photos, this seems to fit the bill of all the characteristics of the current factory filter.

This isnt a stocked item in Australia, but if this IS the panel filter for the 9N, then I think this might be a cheap performance mod that might not give significant gains, but may help the car run better and more efficiently (and it's not as if it doesnt run efficiently now).

As you stated it may not give you much more POWER, but it should give you better throttle response. I guess the 1.6 is the same as any other Normally aspirated motor, in that if you upgrade the intake AND exhaust it should give you a little bit of power. Have a look and see if any O/S companies make extractors. even a cat back exhaust would help.

    I don't mind a Pipercross. Had 1 in my VR6.

Is it still a foam filter and how much ?

    Yes it's a foam filter.

Sorry don't know the price. Was already in the car when I bought it that's why I posted the 2nd link.

Good thing about the foam filters is the absence of any oil. No chance of affecting the MAF.

Personally I don't believe the oiled filters (K&N, BMC etc) will affect the MAF anyway.
