    Back in a 9n3 GTI!

Pretty much exactly 2 years after selling the last one, I've picked up a nice tidy white, ex Japan, 07 with about 88k on the clock. Planning to use this as my daily and reserve the 335i for the longer trips, which hopefully means less frequent repair related wrenching and wallet denting

No doubt I'll be looking to apply similar modes to the last GTI I had...lowering spings, dog bone mount, gear linkage bushes, SAI delete, etc. And if I can get my head around the cost, maybe stage 2 tune and DP again...been a bit spoilt with cheap but excellent tunes on the bimmer though, so we'll see.

Good to see this forum is still alive with some familiar usernames

Guys, in my 2 year absence, have there been any advances in ECU tuning options for the price conscious? Thanks.

Not sure about the price side of things, but certainly quite some development is tuning options. Linear throttle, in gear boost, etc. I had left foot braking enabled after fitting LSD so I can load the diff (and settle the car) mid-corner for track driving.

Pending your interest, there's also Nefmoto which provides bulk info on DIY tuning and logging systems.

Logging with ME7 Logger is much more powerful than VCDS, can log like 60 parameters at once at much higher resolution (20+hz).

I've been looking at what they're doing on nefmotor - amazing stuff...

enabling left foot braking is on my list of things to do, I left foot brake a lot in the mini - when I take the polo to the track it'll be horrible if I can't...

Thanks guys. Had a quick look into Nefmoto...certainly looks like a good toy, but I don't consider myself a tuner by any means. Think I'll be checking in with our resident expert, Gavin. The Polo I had a couple of years ago had a catless downpipe and CC Phase 2 and was a bunch of smiles. But I'm wondering for what I'm intending to use this car for (mainly round town and short trips), maybe I can live with phase one and keep the car fairly stock on the hardware front? For big power, I've still got the 335i to play with. What do you guys think, is phase 1 going to be a disappointment after having had phase 2 previously?
