    1976 Mk1 Polo

I'm lucky, or sad enough to own a Mk1 Polo.
It's one of the oldest examples in the UK, and I saved it from a scrap yard for 50 about 10 years ago.

Here's a couple of pics..If you'd like to read more check out my build thread on Edition 38 here

As I bought it, the day we towed it home.

I taught myself to weld on it, here it is mid project

it's been parked up for a few years now, i have put a 5 speed gearbox in it, but not driven it on the road since. I'm hoping to get a professional to tidy it up for me over the winter.

    Hope you like it..

    Cheers dude!
I always wanted one too - couldn't believe my luck when I saw it parked at the scrap yard ready to get stripped.

So glad you saved it from the scrapper, that's some amazing rust repair you did!

We never got the early Polos in Oz so it's great to see one on this forum, looks like it's a fun little car.

    Cheers

The Volkswagen Polo Mk1 is the first generation of the Volkswagen Polo supermini. ... as the Typ 86), a rebadged version of the Audi 50, was introduced in 1975 on mainland Europe and was launched in the UK and the Isle of Man in 1976.
