Dynaudio RNS510 MDI connection issue mk6 gti

Hi everyone, I understand if this has been asked a million times previously but I am new to VW’s and after looking through the owners manual I am coming up blank.

I have tried to connect my iPod through the MDI connection in the centre console, the iPod lights up but then the iPod says that the function isn’t supported. On the head unit the screen shows up with “media in: device without function”

I have been able to connect the iPod through blue tooth and get it to play music but the song duration is always incorrect and when a phone is connected via Bluetooth at the same time I lose the function of my phone on the system and calls aren’t being directed through the cars.

Short of going to a dealer and getting it looked at I’m out of ideas.

    Thanks in advance

I believe you may need a specific ipod cable to stream music. It may be that the cable you have doesn't suport it and is only for charging an iphone while you drive.

You should be able pick one up for under $20 off ebay if you don't want to pay $80 at a dealer.

Normally the one that comes with the car is a charging cable and wont play music.
You have to pay $80 off a dealer or $14 off Ebay to buy the full service cable
