    mk6 dsg reverse issue

    Hi all
I would appreciate and input and similar experiences
ive been digging through old forum post but haven't been able to find a similar experience to mine so I only have a rough idea at starting point where to begin

    the issue,
    2010 vw golf gti stock,

on slight gradients when attempting to place car in reverse my dsg searches for the gear after a delay it will flash with a spanner symbol and faults and after turning the car on and off again the spanner goes away and continues as normal this also happens when my car has the wheels turned with the wheels straight the car searches and finds the reverse but on little hills/driveways the car just rolls forward and dsg ****s itself even with foot on brake it does not find reverse, my car does not slip gears or shutter or have any issues driving forward it pulls hard through gears in any of the modes .. searching through the forum ive found roughly that it could be mechatronics unit issues but I feel the symptoms dont fully add up, also I read the clutch packs could need replacing but im not convinced as the car pulls and shifts smooth, The obvious would be to scan and see whats logged but I do not have time to take it to a mechanic and I do not have a scanner.. I also found that the dsg can be reset to relearn the releasing and changes I also dont have vagcom.

So im just gauging to see if anyone had a similar experience and could potentially narrow the issue down as I dont have much time to visit mechanics so I would like to go in with a well informed mind when I finally have time to speak to them, I will also continue searching the forum but this post is to save some time and hope someones had this experience and can shed some light on possible fixes

    Thanks all for any input

You really need to take it to someone and have it scanned. At this point it's just guesswork, which could end up being expensive guesswork if you get it wrong.

The problems you describe are not particularly uncommon; failing to find neutral can be an indicator of a mechatronics issue (although that's not a certainty). You can read up on the many DSG fault threads littered around the forum (not just in the Mk6 section - the DQ250 is shared with many other models) for more info.

But as Umai Naa!! rightly points out, the only way you're going to get to the bottom of this is to get the car to a VW specialist who can scan it for fault codes in the first instance. If you don't have time to get to a mechanic now, you might be wasting a lot more time down the track if the gearbox packs up entirely and leaves you stranded.

Yeah its just such a odd issue having the wheels turned and not being able to find reverse as if somethings off center and not being able to engage properly,

Any recommendations for dsg specialists around Sydney hurstville area?

For further info, please read the link in my signature, I have plenty of other media articles relating to this issue.
Just wondering what link did you have in your signature, so many years ago ? lol

    Hello all,

It would seem the mechatronics unit on my 90TSI has packed up. The gear indicator would flash between the current gear and spanner, and the check engine light is now on.

I managed to limp the car home with the engine light on, although it was shifting ok after the car got up to temp. It has 122,600kms, never rode the clutch during heavy traffic, etc.

Would any other 90/118TSI dry clutch owners have had their mechatronics replaced/repaired recently (outside of warranty, either by an independent or dealer)? Just wondering how much of a hole in my back pocket this is going to leave. Thanks all.
