If your thinking this Transporter BlueMotion is Déjà vu, then you are correct! VWCV revealed the Transporter BlueMotion last year with the same drivetrain. Albeit the Transporter BlueMotion from 2013 had a fuel consumption of 6.3L per 100 kilometres and a CO2 rating of 166g/km – this new BlueMotion is obviously updated for 2014MY. Australia has not yet received a Commercial full blown BlueMotion yet and I anticipate we won’t for a while.

•New Transporter BlueMotion consumes just 5.8 litres
•Spacious Multivan BlueMotion MPV needs just 6.0 litres per 100 kilometres

Hannover, 28.02.2014 – Transporter and Multivan are not only among the most successful in their segment, they are also the most fuel efficient on the market. The updated Multivan BlueMotion consumes just 6.0 litres per 100 kilometres and the new Transporter BlueMotion a mere 5.8. No other range in this vehicle class offers such low fuel consumption and a corresponding level of versatility.

The systematic utilisation of BlueMotion technologies also makes the successful T-series into especially fuel-efficient vehicles, offering great value for both business or leisure use. The combination of Stop/Start system, brake energy recovery, tyres with especially low roll resistance, modified engine management and transmission as well as aerodynamic measures produce a clear reduction in fuel consumption and thus lower running costs and increased range. These are important criteria for the Transporter and Multivan in particular – both for commercial and domestic users.

Both independent BlueMotion models have a 2.0-litre TDI engine that delivers 84 kW /114 PS. Thanks to a maximum torque of 250 newton metres, which is available in the 1,500 – 2,750 rpm range, this power train facilitates good driving performance even when fully laden (top speed of 164 km/h). However, the fuel consumption of the Transporter BlueMotion is just 5.8 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres, equating to CO2 emissions of 153 g/km. The independent BlueMotion model thus outdoes its lower-powered conventional variants delivering 62 and 75 kW respectively by up to 1.4 litres per 100 kilometres – a decisive advantage when it comes to running costs.
The consumption figures are similar too for the five-seater Multivan BlueMotion: at 6.0 litres per 100 kilometres and with a CO2 emission level of 159 g/km, the combined consumption is very low for an MPV with such space and ride comfort (1.3 litres below the 62 and 75 kW versions).

The price for the Transporter BlueMotion is €26,560 (excl. VAT), while the corresponding Multivan BlueMotion appears on the price list at €37,199.40 (incl. VAT).
