Two Volkswagen Golfs Claim Victory in Wheels Magazine’s 2011 Gold Star Value Awards

The Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion and Golf GTI claimed victory in the recently announced Wheels magazine’s 2011 Gold Star Value Award.

The Golf BlueMotion lead in the ‘Sedan/hatch $25K – $31K’ category and was a standout in its retained value – a best-in-class figure of 64 percent after three years.

The Golf GTI added another accolade taking out first place in the ‘Compact Performance under $75K’ category. Here few of the Golf GTI’s competitors could top the sporty Golf’s fuel economy figures or match its 63-percent-three year resale.

Anke Koeckler, managing director of Volkswagen Group Australia, commented:
‘We are very proud to see our Golf range taking out two awards in this year’s Wheels Gold Star Awards.’

‘Our multi-award winning Golf GTI continues to outshine its competitors for its everyday capabilities and performance, whilst the Golf BlueMotion proves that Volkswagen’s fuel efficient BlueMotion technology is indeed value for money.

Vehicles in 18 different categories ranging from light vehicles under $20K to luxury cars valued up to $150K were judged across a range of criteria including warranty, fuel economy, purchase price, depreciation, insurance costs, and service schedules and prices.
