Motoring Matters Magazine Group Awards Announced In Melbourne

The Motoring Matters Magazine Group, publishers of ECOcar Magazine, Delivery Magazine and PowerTorque Magazine, has announced the winners in the annual MMMG Awards.

The PowerTorque magazine “Technology and Innovation Award” is to PACCAR Australia, manufacturers of Kenworth and DAF Trucks, for the advanced safety programmes introduced on its latest range of Kenworth Trucks designed for the Australian market.

The Delivery Magazine “Best Van of the Year Award is to Mercedes-Benz for the new engine and transmission upgrades to the Vito van range.

The Delivery Magazine “Best Ute of the Year Award” is to Volkswagen for the Amarok range of 2WD and 4WD utes.

The ECOcar Magazine “ECOcar of the Year Award” is to Kia Motors Australia for the Kia Optima sedan.

The ECOcar People’s Choice Award is to Hyundai Australia for the Hyundai i30 hatch.

The awards were presented to the senior executives of the Australian companies at a ceremony at the Melbourne Convention Centre today.

Publisher and managing editor of the MMM Group Mr. Chris Mullett said:

“The awards focus attention on the continuing improvements in fuel economy, lower emissions and increased safety levels of new vehicles in all the major categories of the automotive and transport industries.

“Kenworth is the first North American truck manufacturer to bring new safety initiatives to its Australian product range that can reduce accidents and injury on our roads. The company has also invested heavily in its Australian research and development programme to improve its products that are tailored specifically for our harsh operating conditions.

“Mercedes-Benz has significantly improved the Vito product to the point that it is now the best specification ever offered from the German manufacturer. With new engines and transmissions plus revised rear axle ratios these latest vans are more fuel efficient and offer greater safety inclusions than ever before.

“Volkswagen has launched its new Amarok ute range as a major advance in technology, fuel economy and safety. It sets a new benchmark in design and ability.

“The Kia Optima is an outstanding sedan offering excellent ride and handling, exceptional fuel economy and a very high specification for Australian buyers. The driving pleasure and value for money provided by the Optima, backed by a five year, unlimited distance warranty and 24/7 roadside assistance, sets a new benchmark for Australian motorists.

“The People’s Choice Award is where readers of ECOcar magazine get to have their say about what they like.

“The difference with this award is that it does not relate to new or very recently released cars as this is an award for which the public has made up its own mind.

“After having won previous ECOcar of the Year awards in its own right, the i30 has gone on to receive a full swag of awards from other publications, testimony indeed that ECOcar Magazine leads with its views, only to find full support for its decisions following from other influential sources,” he said.

Full details of the award contenders and the judging criteria are contained in the June issues of each magazine concerned, on sale nationally from Friday June 3rd 2011.
